Dr. Julie McCann has been an educator for 36 years serving as an elementary teacher, elementary and middle school principal, district office director, equity trainer, leadership coach, and an educational change coach. Julie has led school teams through the change process to improve instruction and transform schools for traditionally underserved students and their families. She was the 2000 State Principal of the Year and as a leader focused on underserved children and families and systemic reform. After leaving the principalship, she worked as a school change coach and is currently working with school districts in Oregon and across the country, and consults with OCEE. She has consulted throughout the state and presented at both state and national conferences around her dissertation topic: White Leaders Examine Power and Privilege: The Challenges of Leading for Equity. She considers herself a White ally and is committed to socially just schools where each child accesses the learning, opportunities, and services to succeed in society.
